Now that Brent has begun taking shots at my lack of posting effort, I suppose I should at least take the time to write my first few paragraphs. Then again, I’m currently at this place called ‘work’; it’s unclear whether or not Brent is familiar with the term and its implications (e.g. not being up at 4 in the morning penning posts about Techland).
Speaking of which, Techland? I have love for P. Ha from his days at Crunchgear etc., and did enjoy the occasional foray into Nerd World, but when I brought it up to check out the layout…I felt like I was being punched in the face. By big, busy blue hands. It’s hard to argue with the banner up top, and I’m all for proper tagging/filing and organization, but that’s about as visually busy a frontpage (for a legitimate website) as they come. I’ll have to give it another try after having some coffee; lack of caffeine makes me significantly more judgemental, especially when I’ve been putting together financial statements all morning. By the way, while I’m being bitchy, I’ll point out that the YouTube vid Brent put up as our inaugural post was sent to him by me. Point for Bill.
Continuing in the theme of sweet, jumpy paragraph segues, I have been called out more and more often recently when referring to myself as ‘Bill’ instead of ‘Billy’. To clarify, Brent calls me Bill and set up the original tags, but I’m pretty sure that had it been my choice, I’d have gone with Bill as well. If we eventually have any sort of readership, I’d like to do a poll – because at some point, I can’t be Billy, at least to people I meet now, especially in the workplace. Billy is fine for family and friends from ‘back in the day’ (also, for whatever reason, it doesn’t seem off if girls refer to me that way), but I can’t see introducing myself that way anymore. I did however, after serious criticism, listen to my voicemail greeting – in which I say Bill – and it does seem pretty comical. We’ll see, I guess.
Anyway, that is hopefully the last of my boring personal crap for a while. I just couldn’t start seeing Bill everywhere on this website and not say something about it.
Also, regarding the Pats: to defend the decision to go for it on 4th down, after blowing your timeouts, and not trusting your defense while ahead is… ludicrous. Let me give you a tip, sports writers: if defending your position requires anything resembling that win probability garbage Brent posted below, you are wrong. As a Giants fan, I can hardly criticize coaching in recent days (Coughlin has less balls than a eunuch watching Sex and the City) or time management (I’m pretty sure Eli doesn’t know what a play clock is, and is eternally surprised by his delays of game), but honestly, that game was theirs to lose and they blew it big time. Plus, watching Peyton go 9-0 at home made me more than a little queasy.
Be back soon. Anyone for a little afternoon YouTube? (nsfw – language)
